What is Fraxel®?
Fraxel® is a laser therapy that rejuvenates the skin and creates a younger looking face by laser treating microscopic pinpoint pixels in a grid pattern. The treated skin is stimulated to grow new smoother, younger looking skin. Fraxel® has been FDA approved to reduce fine lines, smooth out acne scars and rough skin, and remove sun damage, melasma and brown spots. It has the added benefit of reinvigorating aging skin.

How does the treatment work?

The laser targets aging and sun damaged skin, creating microscopic wounds within specific areas beneath the top layer of skin. The body’s natural healing process is triggered, accelerating the growth of new collagen and healthy skin. This leaves new, fresh skin cells.

How many treatments are required?

Two options are available. With the Fraxel Repair treatment, one complete treatment is performed. Someone who wants to get recovery over all in one week, is advised to choose this more aggressive treatment. For someone who is more suited to less down time (1-2 days), the Fraxel Restore treatment is recommended. Plan four treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are minimal and typically involve swelling and a sunburned effect, both of which subside in a few days to a week depending on which treatment is chosen. Moisturizers alleviate these side effects. We recommend Ceratopic from Skin Medica.
There is a minimal risk of infection or scarring.

Will there be any downtime?

In most cases there is limited downtime with Fraxel®.

What are the benefits of Fraxel® over other treatments?

Because Fraxel® has the impact of ablative lasers and the gentleness of non-ablative lasers, healing time is significantly faster than with most other types of treatment. Makeup can be worn immediately following the treatment.

How soon will results appear?
Results will reach their full potential in two to three months. This time frame allows for complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue.

How does the treatment feel?
An anesthetic block or cream is applied to reduce the discomfort of the procedure. Most clients who feel tenderness describe it as a prickling sensation.

Instructions for after treatment:

Apply SPF 15-30 every day, and avoid direct sunlight for three months after the procedure
